Picasso in Bari at the Chamber of Commerce: a holiday visit
If you have guests at your home in December, one question always comes up: where do we take them? This year in Bari there is an answer that doesn't require you to leave the city centre. From 10 October 2026 to 7 March 2027 the San Nicola Hall of the Chamber of Commerce, at civico 2 of Corso Cavour, hosts "Picasso. The Revolutionary Gaze".
What you will see
More than one hundred works covering over seventy years of Pablo Picasso's work: oils, lithographs, etchings, ceramics, photographs, archive documents and posters. The journey is divided into five chapters:
- the origins of the myth, between youth, identity and early models;
- the revolution of printing;
- the artist and the power of images, with the section dedicated to Guernica;
- the workshop of innovation, namely modern linocut;
- the ceramics of Vallauris.
The exhibition is curated by Joan Abelló with Vittoria Mainoldi and Carlota Muiños; the show is organised by Bass Culture in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Bari.
It is not an exhibition only for those who have studied art history. The variety of materials (from paper to terracotta) makes it suitable for those who want to bring teenagers or friends who normally avoid museums: each room changes technique, and with it the way of looking.
Where it is located
The San Nicola Hall is on the ground floor of the historic Chamber of Commerce building, with direct access from Corso Cavour. We're talking about around 600 square metres, plus a portico of around 250. We're in the Muratian borough, the 19th-century heart of the city, on the same street as Teatro Petruzzelli (which is at civico 12): those arriving by train can take a walk here without taking a vehicle, and those coming by car should not rely on a parking space at the entrance.

How to plan your visit during the holidays
First, remember that holidays have the same rate and hours as weekends: if you go on 26 December, New Year's Day or Epiphany, the reference is the €14 ticket and opening at 9:30am.
Then there's the question the website doesn't answer: will the exhibition be open on 25 December and 1 January? We couldn't find a published rule. Before planning your meal around the visit, ask the organisers at the contact details above.
Some practical tips:
- choose a weekday between Christmas and New Year's if you can: for the same visit the ticket costs less; but be careful, real weekdays are few and should be checked on the calendar;
- buy your ticket in advance, online, if you're going at the weekend;
- allow at least an hour and a half: five sections are better read without watching the clock;
- if you have small children, decide in advance how many sections to see: better three explained well than five in a rush;
- bring an ID if you think you'll use a discount, because the website lists the categories but not how they're verified.
Before and after the exhibition
Corso Cavour is a good base for a full day. After the visit you can continue towards via Sparano, the shopping street, or head down to the waterfront for some fresh air. For a coffee or lunch you don't need listed addresses: the Muratian borough is full of them, and after two hours in the galleries the eye needs a break. No complicated itineraries needed: the strength of this location is precisely that everything is within walking distance.
Those who live or would like to live in this part of Bari know it well: living near exhibitions, theatres and shops means being able to say "let's go" without organising an expedition. If you're thinking about it, available properties are here, and for a chat without commitment you can get in touch with us.
Dates, times and places verified on official websites on 3 October 2026: they may change, so check before buying tickets.
